Expert Guide: Supporting Student Self-Regulation. Children's Mental Health Week 2025 - 28th Jan 2025
As Children's Mental Health Week approaches (3-9 February 2025), we're focusing on this year's theme: Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. With emotional regulation being one of the biggest challenges in UK schools, we're committed to providing practical support for teachers and school staff.
Research shows that children with SEND, particularly those with autism or speech and language needs, often find emotional regulation especially challenging. This can create barriers to both wellbeing and learning.
In support of CMHW, this year, we’re sharing highlights from ASD/SLCN Specialist & Play Therapist Tania Pyburn's expert webinar Pupil Emotional Regulation Skills.
In under 30 minutes, you can learn how to help students:
• Understand their emotions using the Zones of Regulation framework
• Identify feelings and manage stress triggers effectively
• Self-regulate using proven classroom techniques.
Packed with practical strategies, in just 30 minutes, you can discover:
- The Zones of Regulation framework
- Simple stress-spotting techniques
- Ready-to-use classroom tools
This practical session includes three downloadable resources to help you implement strategies immediately in your setting. Perfect for both mainstream and SEND settings, these approaches are already making a difference in classrooms across the UK.
